Watauga African American History Month: NC Live eJournals

Signing in to NC Live

To access NC Live from outside the library you will need to sign in.  To do this, first select the "Appalachian Regional Library", then enter your library card number which is located on the back of your card under the barcode.  When you enter the the number, please do not include any spaces.

Searching within an eJournal

To search for articles within an eJournal, enter your keywords or subject terms in the "Search within this publication" search box located underneath the record for the publication.  If you need to modify your search query after viewing your results, you can use the search box at the top of the results page.  The format for searching is: (Search Term) AND PUBID(Publication I.D. #).  Make sure that you DO NOT alter the Publication I.D. #-i.e. only change the Search Term.

NC Live eJournals

  • Publishes essays on African American literature, art and culture. Contains interviews, fiction and poems. (1989-Present)


  • Presents African-American essays on a broad range of issues of concern to scholars in sociology, history, literature, political science, health, art, women's studies and ethnic studies. (1988-Present)


  • Devoted to the study of the African past; presents information on all aspects of Africa's history, from prehistoric archaeology to the present problems of the continent. (1990-Present)


  • Published quarterly, the Journal of African American History (JAAH) is a peer-reviewed publication that also serves the fields of African History and the African Diaspora. (1998-Present)


  • A forum for communicating news and ideas, as well as regularly reporting the results of PRRAC-sponsored research, the advocacy work that research has assisted and other relevant news. (1995-Present)


  • The premier journal of African literary studies worldwide and provides a forum in English for research on the oral and written literatures of Africa. In addition to thought-provoking essays, reviews of current scholarly books appear in every issue, often presented as critical essays, and a forum offers readers the opportunity to respond to issues raised in articles and book reviews. (1989-Present)


  • The Rutgers Race & The Law Review provides a forum for scholarship and dialogue on race, ethnicity, and the law.  It addresses the concerns of people of color and covers various types of political ideologies, philosophies, and religions. Of special interests are treaties, agreements, and laws promulgated among different countries and the impact they have on diverse people. (2007-Present)
