More Than Moonshine

Bio

HELEN MARIE MORRIS (b. 6/27/1944, Hartford, Connecticut)

Helen Marie Morris has been a resident of Wilkes County since moving from California to North Wilkesboro in 2007. She is the mother of four grown children and the grandmother of five. Transitioning to life as a single person after her husband’s death in 2019 has been challenging and exciting, allowing time for both healing and a full return to the world of creative endeavors.

A member of the Wilkes Writers Group since 2012, she has also hosted a Gospel radio program on WKBC, and has published a book of memoirs entitled Journey to the Pleasant Places.

Although writing literature is a loving pursuit, her greatest passion continues to be creating original music that is both inspirational and prophetic. To that end she is now keyboardist and vocalist with Judah Jam, a newly formed local band which plays spontaneous worship music. Helen also enjoys guitar picking and singing with others who gather at the Library and various other places in the community.

So appreciative of the diverse talent in the Wilkes Writers Group, she is staunchly committed to seeing their legacy of original writings live on in this More than Moonshine publication. Since community is so important to any endeavor, Helen would especially like to thank the Wilkes County Regional Library and their staff for all the support and encouragement they give to make this project a reality.
