Our Little Free Library Story

Our first Little Free Libraries were donated by Sarah Maxey, a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill who has funded several LFLs across the state of North Carolina through her Kickstarter page.  Judith Winecoff acted as the project coordinator on behalf of the Watauga County Public Library and Marna Napoleon, Vicki Krueger and Caroline Gandy served as coordinators on behalf of the Stone Mountain Store, Two Rivers Community School and the Valle Crucis Community Park.  Judith's Husband, Tim Winecoff volunteered to do the installation for the initial three libraries.  Thank you all for all your hard work!

Publix Little Free Libraries

A big thank you goes out to Publix at Three Creeks of Boone for
donating four Little Free Libraries to High Country United Way.
Publix proceeded to build and install them at four locations as well as contribute books so they are all ready to go. The library helped identify locations and stewards. More books out in the county for residents means more opportunities for lifelong learning and literacy.

Pictured in the final photo are Theo Gray, Maggie Christenbury, Outreach Coordinator for the Watauga Friends of the Library, Marcia Blake, Western Watauga Friends, Jackie Cornette, Western Watauga Branch Head, Mark Taggart and Joel Wise of Publix Supermarket, Marti Phillips, Director of High Country United Way, and Monica Caruso, County Librarian. — at Watauga Parks/Cove Creek Gym.
