WELCOME TO THE 2022 ARLY CHALLENGE!

At Ashe County Public Library, we are committed to helping everyone discover their love of reading. The Arly edition of the 2022 Ashe County Reading Challenge rewards kids from birth to 12 and their families and encourages reading widely throughout the year.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The reading challenge runs from January 1 to December 31. Read a book and submit a review to complete a category. Books may only count toward one category in the challenge.

Reviews can be as simple or as detailed as you want. "I thought the main character was funny!" is a great review.

Any books read can count, including ebooks, graphic novels, and audiobooks. Plus, books read for the reading challenge can count toward our other reading challenges during summer and winter break to earn even more free books/prizes!

For each book read and reviewed, you will get an entry for the grand prize drawing at the Reading Challenge Wrap-Up/Kickoff Celebration in January of 2023. For every five books read and reviewed in the challenge, you will receive a free book or prize. Librarians must approve and record all reviews before prizes can be picked up. If you complete all 25 challenges, you will get double entries (a total of 50) for the grand prize drawing. To complete the reading challenge, reviews must be submitted and approved for each category.

Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I have to complete my challenges in order?
No. Do them in whatever order you choose.
Do I have to complete all of the challenges?
Nope! It would be cool if you did. After all, completing the challenge earns you more chances for free books and prizes.
When does the challenge end?
December 31, 2022, at midnight.
Who decides whether my submission is approved?
Our Youth Services staff evaluate submissions, communicate with participants, and update the website. It's a lot of work, but we are glad to share in your reading experience.
When can I pick up my books/prizes?
When your Participant's Progress page has been updated to show 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 reviews, you can stop by the Youth Services desk to pick out your book/prize. Since a staff member has to evaluate your submission, it may be a few business days before your progress page is updated.
You can also wait until the wrap-up/kick-off event in January 2023 to pick up prizes.
