When you join, you are issued a membership card that will entitle you to a 10% discount for all items purchased from the Friends Corner.

  And did you know...

...that Friends has set up an Amazon Smile account for the Ashe County Public Library?  When you  link to the account to  make your Amazon purchases, $0.05 is donated to the library for every purchase made from the Amazon Smile inventory.  For more information, click on the Amazon Smile icon in the upper right corner of the library’s web page or go to www.smile.amazon.com

Donate

Donations

Monetary donations are always welcome, and they are tax deductible, since the Friends is a 501(c)(3) organization!  To make a donation, make your check payable to "Friends of Ashe County Library."  Note "Donation" on the memo line of your check and mail it to Friends of the Ashe County Library, 148 Library Drive, West Jefferson, NC 28694.

Material donations are greatly appreciated because they can be used in the Friends Corner fundraising sales throughout the year.  See below for a list of acceptable items.  Materials that can be used for gift baskets are also welcome, such as baskets, tissue paper, ribbons, coffee mugs, figurines, and small stuffed animals.

Donated items should be in good, clean, salable condition. If you are uncertain about whether the items you wish to donate are acceptable, ask yourself:  Would I want to read or purchase items in this condition?  If so, bring your donations to the Circulation Desk during normal operating hours; if not, consider recycling them by some other means.

As with monetary donations, material donations to the Friends are tax-deductible.  Receipts for donated materials may obtained from the Circulation personnel when your drop off the materials.

Volunteer

Volunteer

Volunteering with the Friends is an opportunity to be involved with your library and to work with a dedicated group of folks. Volunteer as your schedule permits, a few hours per year on a special project or an hour or two per week on a regular basis, choosing an area that you would enjoy.

Friends Corner

Volunteers evaluate the materials donated to the Friends Corner and store them 'til needed, prep the books and other materials for sale in the Friends Corner, and set up the sale items on the Friends Corner shelves. They also put together the gift baskets that are sold in the Friends Corner.

Meetings

Friends volunteers moderate book club meetings and usher at various literary events during the On the Same Page Literary Festival held in September.  They also provide refreshments for the Friends monthly meetings.

Committees

Friends volunteers serve on committees focused on specific issues, such as Publicity, Archives, Fundraising.
