Without libraries what have we? We have no past and we have no future.
- Ray Bradbury -
Libraries are an integral part of the areas they serve. They help to define us, as individuals and as a community. They educate, inspire, and perhaps most importantly, give us free reign - to explore, imagine, believe. In that context, Ashe County Public Library provides an array of services to Ashe County residents - and the Friends of Ashe County Public Library are proud supporters of their efforts. This guide was created to explain what the Friends do. Take a look at it - learn more about us! And check out the What's Happening information below to learn about Friends, Ashe Library, and Ashe County events for the current month.
To keep up with ongoing Friends activities in the future, several information sources are available: For non-members, key sources are the Ashe Post-Times, WKSK Radio, and other news media. For members, key sources are the news media as well as the email notifications sent each month to announce the monthly meetings and other relevant events.

Friends Monthly Meeting
Friends meetings are normally held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m., in the Library Auditorium. A brief report of business affairs is presented first, followed by the designated speaker for the month. Watch for announcements of these meetings in thelocal media. Friends members should receive an email notifying them of the monthly meeting.
Did you know... ...that Friends has set up an Amazon Smile account for the Ashe County Public Library? When you link to the account to make your Amazon purchases, $0.05 is donated to the library for every purchase made from the Amazon Smile inventory. Each month, the library offers a variety of events for both adult and youth patrons. For details, pick up a paper copy of the current monthly calendar at the Circulation Desk or the Youth Services Desk. For an online copy of the current monthly calendar, click on the yellow Ashe tab at: www.arlibrary.org The calendar will automatically display and you can then click on an individual entry to obtain more information about that particular event.
